Why +

because it's more than just an open studio. In addition to creating a space for community to gather, share work and support each other, we will also be hosting skill-building workshops during each Open Studio +.

+ is ...

A space to foster creativity and encourage experimentation in an atmosphere of exchange, conversation, and support.

A place to encounter fellow creatives and learn about their work and practice.

A chance to find future collaborators or reconnect with old friends.

A studio to work on your own in-progress pieces and be inspired by someone else’s project.

An opportunity to learn new skills and explore different art practices and tools

Most importantly, Open Studio + is FREE to attend and open to all skill levels.

Bring your own works in progress or just drop in and use our art supplies and material to start a new project, find inspiration in our Community Library, use our photo studio or recording studio.

Workshop participants will have the opportunity to make a print to take home using her large collection of hand-carved stamps. Everyone will also participate in the creation of a community print mural, building up stamp prints collage-style to make a larger composition.

WORKSHOP PRESENTER:

Shannon Moynagh is an artist and art educator who lives in Brampton, ON with her 4 children. Graduating with her B.F.A from York University in 2009, she currently works at a shared studio space in Toronto as a member of the InPrint Collective, creating art and teaching youth and adults. Shannon currently teaches at the Art Gallery of Ontario and at Peel Art Gallery, Museum, and Archives. She has also taught art at The ROM, the Toronto History Museums, Beaux-Arts Brampton, Art City St. James Town, and at various schools across the G.T.A.

Shannon has exhibited her work in Brampton, Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Germany, and Japan, and received an Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance grant in 2013. Her art practice is eclectic, but most of her paintings, drawings, photographs and prints are inspired by nature and transformation, both thematically and technically. She also enjoys experimenting with new methods, which she shares enthusiastically with her students.

Organized by

The Brampton Arts Organization is a registered non-profit that champions Brampton’s diverse arts, culture and creative industries and advocates for the #BramptonArtist. We work to build a thriving, confident, valued, and empowered creative scene by offering a range of programs, services and resources. In this, BAO is a key partner in fulfilling the City of Brampton’s strategic vision and Culture Master Plan.

Throughout the year, we offer free in-person and virtual programming for all creative disciplines. These programs focus on helping artists build and professionalize their practices. We also create opportunities for artists to show their work through regular calls. In addition to these programs for individual creatives, we offer programs for Brampton-based creative businesses and arts and culture organizations.
